Taek Jegal ([personal profile] excuseless) wrote2016-11-28 09:26 pm

SHORT BIO :

Name: Taek Jegal
Canon: God of Highschool (G.O.H)
Age: 18

Personality:
• Sadistic
• Opportunistic
• Arrogant
• Violent
• Insecure
• Ambitious
• Materialistic

His philosophy is that for love and happiness one needs power and money. He will do anything to obtain the former, but has forgotten that it's to achieve the latter.

Above all, he wants to live without excuses.

History:

  • Sold by his barmaid mother to a wealthy elderly man- ambiguous if that was his biological father.
  • Raised by the head of the Jegal Group, one of the two largest conglomerates in South Korea, he refused to acknowledge him as his father.
  • Fought in several martial arts tournaments. At age 14, he fought Seung-Min Park and intentionally broke her ankle in the final, permanently hobbling her and making it look like an accident she was responsible for. Her cousin, Ilpyo Park, defeated him in the car park afterwards. Taek took advantage of a momentary distraction to beat Ilpyo with a pipe, but his loss scarred his pride permanently.
  • Fought several people just for the sake of fighting the strong. He gained the nickname 'Charisma Jegal' for his ability to amass underlings.
  • When 18 he smothered his father to death when he was ill, taking over the Jegal Group.
  • He aligned himself with NOX, a mysterious group with the goals of furthering the Gods, payrolling them. He was given the power of TAM by them, but he did not consider himself part of NOX.
  • He competed in God of Highschool, a tournament intended to find the 'Key'- a person capable of allowing humans to fight Gods.
  • ≈Rough Canon Point≈
  • Flattened all his competition and used it as a way to steal Borrowed Power and got a chance to face Ilpyo Park again. He reached the Nationals as the representative of the South Gyeongsang Province, alongside two underlings on his team.
  • It became clear Ilpyo was the Key when he fought Mori Jin, lead character so far unmentioned.
  • One of Taek's defeated opponents was also given TAM by NOX, but they failed to control it as he attempted to get revenge. In the ensuing chaos, Taek killed him and injured Ilypo's team before their official match.
  • That opponent was the grandson of one of The Six (the organisers of the G.O.H) and also one of the only business rivals of the Jegal group. Taek took advantage of his grief to take over his business.
  • ≈Rough Canon Point End≈
  • In the aftermath, it was agreed Taek and Ilpyo would fight 1v1 as they had similar wounds.
  • In their fight Taek stole the Key from him. This escalated into a brawl with NOX and The Six trying to claim him. His body was not strong enough to contain it and spat it out.
  • He battled Mori Jin and his team, the protagonists would you believe it, eventually losing and losing the Key. By eating his own team mate, he gained the strength to control the Key when he reclaimed it.
  • Mori Jin's true power as the Monkey King (Jecheondaeseong, Sun Wukong, Son Goku) was reawakened when Taek became a God. After their battle, his body became unstable and Taek was devoured by his own TAM. For the first time in his life he reached a hand out of help, but decided in the end to stay true to his creed of living without making excuses and allowed himself to die with a smile.
  • Long after his death it is revealed he is a descendent of the head of NOX, the Jade Emperor, making him a demigod with the potential to become a god and develop Sage's Wisdom, one of the most coveted power in the heavens.

    Abilities

    • Extreme physical capabilities and martial arts skills. Can copy skills from watching them. Can smash and be thrown through stone without effort or injury. According to Mori Jin, who has the ability to see such things, he has no physical weaknesses or gaps in his stance.

    • Borrowed Power: Forming a 'contract' with a spiritual entity (god, historical figure, monster etc.) or item (weapon, armour, accessory etc.) to borrow their abilities or summon them directly. His signature is Megalodon, but his true power is TAM.

      • Megalodon: Partially or completely summons a spectral giant shark. Often takes the form of just teeth, manifesting already penetrating a foe with a split second chance to dodge or defend.

      • TAM: The powers from the Chinese myth of a creature that embodied avarice, that ate and ate until it ate itself. Appears as a shadow with a black mouth and red eyes, attached to him as a tattoo. Can drain the life of others, for healing or empowering him. It also gives him some limited form shifting, such as creating tentacles from his flesh or making himself larger. It can be used as a direct offensive ability, or grants him the ability to steal other powers. Including:

        • Mage: Cast RPG like spells.
        • Doppelgänger: The power to disguise himself as other people & create clones of himself/others, with equipment and powers included. Up to 100 clones at once is possible. They are not illusions, but actual duplicates. Disguises do not need to be real people, but can be from his imagination.
        • Jack the Ripper: Creating blades.
        • Golem: Summoning a huge, strong being of stone.
        • Aegis: Producing a hexagonal segmented shield to wrap around himself or to rearrange into swords for attack.
        • Unnamed misc: Super sonic air blast making bird, skull like insect beast, a Raijin, more less defined.

      • Sage's Wisdom: Upon reaching godhood, Taek manifests his ancestor's signature ability of Sage's Wisdom. The third eye possesses the ability to control the four fundamental forces and can therefore manipulate any force that can occur in the universe- inertia, friction, gravity, etc. Lacking in experience, he fails to use it properly before death.
